KGMA 2026 Is Heading to Gocheok Sky Dome for the First Time
The Korea Grand Music Awards is trading INSPIRE Arena for Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul's only enclosed dome stadium, for its November 7-8, 2026 ceremony.
March 18, 2026
Three years in, the Korea Grand Music Awards (코리아 그랜드 뮤직 어워즈) is making its biggest move yet. For 2026, the KGMA is leaving INSPIRE Arena in Incheon behind and relocating to Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul's only fully enclosed domed stadium, according to the organizing committee's official announcement on March 18. The upgrade shifts the ceremony into a new venue tier and a new strategic position. Gocheok holds approximately 25,000 for concerts, significantly above INSPIRE Arena's capacity, and it sits inside Seoul itself, connected directly to the capital's subway system rather than positioned near Incheon International Airport nearly an hour from the city center. For domestic fans, that difference is the gap between a show you attend and a show you plan a trip around. For international fans landing in Seoul, the math gets even simpler. Three years in, the KGMA is not adjusting its ambitions. It is scaling them.
New Venue, New Scale
The 2026 KGMA will be held over two days on November 7 and 8 at Gocheok Sky Dome (고척스카이돔) in Guro District, Seoul. Organizers made the official announcement on March 18, citing accessibility as the primary reason for the move.
"As we move the venue for this year's KGMA to the Gocheok Sky Dome, we will do our utmost to prepare a top-notch festival where both Korean and global fans can enjoy the best performances by artists," said the organizing committee, in a statement reported by Soompi.
The shift from Incheon to Seoul is a meaningful one. INSPIRE Arena sits near Incheon International Airport, roughly 45 minutes from central Seoul. Gocheok Sky Dome sits inside the city itself, connected to the Seoul Metro network. For domestic fans, this is the most convenient KGMA location to date.
What Is Gocheok Sky Dome?
Opened in September 2015, Gocheok Sky Dome (고척스카이돔) is Korea's only dome-type stadium. Owned by the City of Seoul and operated by Seoul Facilities Corporation, the stadium serves as the home ballpark of KBO's Kiwoom Heroes, with standard baseball seating for approximately 16,744. For concerts, the layout opens up considerably: per Seoul Facilities Corporation's event specifications, the venue accommodates around 25,000 spectators for live music shows, a meaningful capacity step up from INSPIRE Arena. That gap puts the KGMA in the same venue tier as the Melon Music Awards and the MAMA Awards, both of which have staged ceremonies at comparable large-scale Korean venues. The fully enclosed dome structure also means the November ceremony runs rain or shine. In Seoul's unpredictable autumn weather, that is not a minor operational detail. It is a structural commitment to delivery, the kind of logistical reliability that major-tier awards ceremonies need to attract top-tier talent and broadcast partners.

The KGMA's Arc So Far
The Korea Grand Music Awards was founded by Ilgan Sports in 2024 to mark the publication's 55th anniversary. Ilgan Sports has deep history in the K-pop awards space: they created the Golden Disc Awards back in 1984. The KGMA launched with that same pedigree, pairing expert judge evaluations with digital sales data and mobile fan voting to determine winners.
The first ceremony ran November 16-17, 2024, at INSPIRE Arena in Incheon. Year two followed at the same location, November 14-15, 2025. Now in its third year, the KGMA is relocating to the capital entirely. The pace of this growth is fast. We are watching this ceremony build its identity in real time, and the Gocheok move feels less like a logistical decision and more like a statement of intent.
What to Expect Next
No performer or presenter announcements have dropped yet for 2026. The 2025 KGMA broadcast live on ENA for South Korean viewers and streamed internationally via TikTok, as confirmed by KGMA's 2025 broadcast schedule, with Japan audiences watching through Hulu Japan. Expect similar distribution announcements closer to November.
