Hyoyeon
Kim Hyo-yeon (김효연), known as Hyoyeon and DJ HYO, has spent nearly two decades turning elite dance technique into a durable crossover career. She first broke through as a core performance engine inside Girls' Generation, then kept expanding her range until the Hyoyeon brand could hold idol legacy, nightlife credibility, and festival-scale DJ energy at the same time.
After debuting under SM Entertainment in August 2007, Hyoyeon became one of the most recognizable dancers of her generation. Her solo path started before the DJ rebrand with singles like "Mystery" and "Wannabe," but the sharper turn came with 2018's "Sober," which repositioned her around club-focused electronic pop. Tracks like "Dessert," Second, and the English-language single "Retro Romance" helped formalize that lane instead of treating it like a side project.
That second identity kept growing in 2025 and 2026. "Yes" pushed her summer-tour momentum forward, while "MOVEURBODY" tied her to HWA:HAP and the kind of nightlife-platform crossover that suits DJ HYO better than conventional idol promo cycles. Hyoyeon still carries the prestige of Girls' Generation, but her current value comes from how cleanly she can move between legacy K-pop, fashion-forward club culture, and SM's broader performance ecosystem.
