Sunny
Sunny (써니), born Susan Soonkyu Lee (이순규), belongs to the generation of idols who helped define how modern K-pop performs, promotes, and survives long enough to become institutional memory. As a member of Girls' Generation, she was part of the group that turned second-generation idol pop into something durable across Korea, Japan, and the wider international market.
What made Sunny especially useful inside that machine was versatility. She could handle bright pop, carry live stages, and move easily into radio and variety formats that demanded wit instead of choreography. That extra television fluency is a big reason she stayed culturally present even when group activity slowed after the classic album run through Gee, The Boys, and FOREVER 1.
The current phase is less about chasing another idol debut peak and more about leverage. After leaving SM Entertainment, Sunny signed with A2O Entertainment in 2025 and moved into trainee development alongside producer Yoo Young Jin. That shift keeps her inside the industry's decision-making layer while preserving the public legacy she built through Girls' Generation.
