Daegu International Musical Festival
Daegu International Musical Festival, widely known as DIMF, is the Korean live-stage platform most closely tied to the push to scale musicals beyond Seoul. Founded in 2006, the festival has grown from a seasonal event into a year-round system for original-work development, performer training, international exchange, and business meetings.
The 20th edition shows how large that footprint has become. Reporting around the 2026 festival says DIMF will run from June 19 to July 6 with 35 productions from seven countries and 122 performances, while Daegu's official music platform says the wider operation draws roughly 300,000 visitors and participants each year. That gives Daegu Metropolitan Government a real cultural-export vehicle rather than a symbolic local festival.
On HITKULTR, DIMF matters because it sits where policy, tourism, and production infrastructure meet. It is a festival brand, but it also functions like a business platform for the broader K-musical economy.
