Car, the Garden (카더가든), born Cha Jung-won (차정원), has one of the most recognizable voices in Korean indie-pop: grainy, melancholy-heavy, and instantly human. He first emerged as Mayson the Soul before rebuilding his career under the Car, the Garden name, a pivot that let the writing get looser, sadder, and much more distinctive.

That arc now reads like a full catalog story rather than a cult secret. Albums like Apartment, C, and Harmony built the long form, while songs like Closely Far Away and the Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha OST cut Romantic Sunday kept pulling new listeners in. In 2025 he joined CAM WITH US alongside artists like 10CM and Silica Gel, which says a lot about where Korea's premium indie lane is consolidating.
