Chancellor

Chancellor, born Kim Jung-seung (김정승), has been one of the more durable bridge figures between Korean R&B craft and idol-market songwriting. Born in Seoul on October 22, 1986 and raised largely in Los Angeles, he returned to Korea in 2009 after studying Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music. That background shows in the work. His records are usually built with the instincts of a singer first, but the architecture of a producer who understands arrangement, pacing, and texture.

He first surfaced through the trio One Way in 2010, then became a major behind-the-scenes hitmaker as one half of Duble Sidekick before shifting fully into solo work. My Full Name in 2016 established the solo voice. The self-titled Chancellor album in 2021 sharpened it, with "Midnight" landing on Billboard's year-end best K-pop songs list and putting him back into the conversation as more than a veteran collaborator.

That dual identity still defines him in 2026. He remains a recognizable vocalist with his own catalog, but he also matters because of the rooms he works in. Production and songwriting ties to artists including Kang Daniel and XG keep him connected to newer K-pop and global-pop lanes, while his solo work still sits comfortably inside Korea's R&B canon.
