Hur Youngji
Hur Youngji (허영지) holds a rare position in second-generation K-pop history. She entered KARA in 2014 through the televised KARA Project audition, joining one of the era's defining girl groups at a moment when the lineup was being publicly rebuilt in real time. Instead of feeling like a stopgap addition, she became a real bridge figure, carrying KARA's late-period activity, then returning for the group's reunion-era work once the members reconvened in the 2020s.
That long view matters because Youngji never stayed locked inside one lane. She built a parallel identity as a television personality, MC, and variety regular while also keeping her music career active. In 2016, she crossed into the pre-debut KARD universe through Oh NaNa, then waited years before finally making her formal solo debut with Toi Toi Toi in 2023. The gap made that release feel earned rather than overdue. It positioned her less as an idol trying to break away from a group and more as a familiar industry figure finally getting a solo chapter that matched her public recognition.
In the current market, Youngji's relevance comes from adaptability. She can step into KARA reunion activity, hold her own as a soloist, and still function as a reliable entertainment personality outside the music cycle. That flexibility has kept her visible well beyond the average second-generation arc, first through her long relationship with RBW for music releases and more recently through her exclusive contract with SM C&C on the management side.
