Lee Dong-wook

Lee Dong-wook (이동욱) has spent two decades turning leading-man polish into something sharper and stranger. He first broke into the Hallyu mainstream with My Girl in 2005, but the more important part of his career is what came after: a long run of dramas that kept pushing him out of easy romantic-comedy typing and into darker, more stylized material.

That evolution hit its widest audience through tvN and Studio Dragon smash Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, where his grim reaper turn alongside Gong Yoo became one of the defining performances of the 2010s Korean drama boom. He did not stay in that lane for long. Life, Hell Is Other People, Tale of the Nine Tailed, and Bad and Crazy all leaned on a colder, more controlled screen presence than his early-star image suggested.

That versatility still drives his current phase. A Shop for Killers on Disney+ reminded viewers how effective he is in high-tension genre work, while 2025 titles The Divorce Insurance and The Nice Guy kept him active across mainstream drama. Backed by King Kong by Starship and his long-running official site, Lee remains one of the clearest examples of an actor who never had to freeze himself inside one signature role.
