Studio Dragon

Studio Dragon (스튜디오드래곤) is South Korea's largest drama production company and the engine behind many of the most successful K-dramas ever made. Spun off from CJ ENM's drama division on May 3, 2016, the company went public on KOSDAQ in November 2017 and has since built a production catalog that reads like a greatest-hits list of Korean television. The numbers are staggering. Crash Landing on You, the cross-border romance starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, became a global cultural event and one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable TV history. Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin) redefined the fantasy romance genre. Mr. Sunshine brought cinematic-scale production values to the small screen. Vincenzo turned a dark comedy about an Italian-Korean mafia consigliere into appointment viewing across Asia. It's Okay to Not Be Okay, Flower of Evil, Happiness, Little Women, and Queen of Tears all carry the Studio Dragon stamp. In H2 2025, the historical comedy Bon Appetit, Your Majesty ranked third globally on Netflix by hours viewed -- the studio's third consecutive year placing a title in the platform's global top tier following The Glory (2023) and Queen of Tears (2024). The company's partnership with Netflix transformed both organizations. Netflix acquired a 4.68% equity stake in Studio Dragon, and the two companies co-produced titles including Sweet Home, which ran for three seasons and became one of Netflix's most-watched Korean series. Studio Dragon also supplies content to Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and CJ ENM's own streaming platform Tving, giving the studio distribution reach that spans every major global platform. Studio Dragon operates through a network of subsidiaries including Culture Depot, Hwa&Dam Pictures, KPJ Corporation, GTist, and Gill Pictures, each specializing in different genres and production scales. The company's first American TV series launched on Apple TV+, signaling ambitions that extend beyond Korean-language content. Owned 54.46% by CJ ENM with minority stakes held by Naver Corporation (6.25%) and Netflix (4.68%), Studio Dragon is publicly traded and headquartered in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The studio competes alongside SLL as one of Korea's two dominant drama production houses, but its sheer volume of hits and global distribution partnerships put it in a category of its own.
