LOONA
LOONA (이달의 소녀, lit. Girl of the Month) is a South Korean girl group that set a new benchmark for K-pop pre-debut rollouts. Formed under Blockberry Creative in 2016, the group spent two years teasing 12 members one by one, each with a solo single and music video before the full group debuted on August 19, 2018 with Hi High. The 12 members: HeeJin, HyunJin, HaSeul, YeoJin, ViVi, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu (later removed), Go Won, and HyeJu (formerly Olivia Hye). Their discography spans multiple studio albums, EPs, and sub-unit releases across LOONA 1/3, Odd Eye Circle, and yyxy. The group's active era ran from 2018 to 2023, broken by legal disputes between members and Blockberry Creative over unpaid wages and contract violations. By 2023, all 12 members had either won injunctions to terminate contracts or departed. Blockberry Creative subsequently collapsed. Five members reformed as Loossemble in 2023, while others continued under new labels including Artms and solo careers. LOONA as an entity is inactive.
