Park Joon-hyung
Park Joon-hyung (박준형), known internationally as Joon Park, is a Korean-American singer, rapper, actor, and entertainment personality. Born July 20, 1969, in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul and raised in Los Angeles, he returned to Korea in 1997 with a vision to fuse Western hip-hop sensibility with Korean pop. He assembled what would become g.o.d (지오디) and led the group to become one of the most beloved acts of the first-generation K-pop era.
g.o.d debuted in January 1999 under SM Entertainment. Under Joon's leadership, the group sold millions of albums and produced songs like Road and A Girl Named Han Dong-in that remain cultural touchstones in Korea. His ability to code-switch between English-language hip-hop and heartfelt Korean ballads gave g.o.d its distinctive identity.
As a solo entertainer, Joon Park has built a second career in digital media. His YouTube channel Wassup Man launched in 2018 and was adapted into a Netflix series in 2020 before concluding in April 2022. He followed it with the Kulture Man series and, in 2024, co-hosted the English-language talk show BYOB with Fly to the Sky member Brian Joo, targeting Korean-American audiences. In December 2024, he appeared on MBC's Radio Star.
g.o.d reunited in 2014 and has remained active with sell-out concert tours. In June 2025, Joon publicly responded on social media after the mayor of Gyeongju called g.o.d "washed up," setting off a viral moment that demonstrated the group's enduring fanbase and cultural relevance.
