g.o.d
g.o.d (지오디, Groove Over Dose) is a South Korean boy group formed by SidusHQ, widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of Korean pop music. Debuting on January 13, 1999 with the track To Mother (어머님께), the five-member group became known for their storytelling lyrics, emotionally resonant ballads, and a signature blend of R&B, rap, and pop that set them apart from the synchronized-dance acts of the era.
The group had more than one album surpass one million copies sold, a rare achievement in South Korea's pre-digital market. Their 2000 variety series Parenting Diary (육아일기), in which the five members raised a toddler together on camera, was one of the most-watched programs of its year and helped define the crossover from idol to cultural institution. Beloved by fans as "the nation's idol," g.o.d holds a cultural footprint that reaches across generations of Korean listeners.
The five members -- Park Joon-hyung (leader, rapper), Yoon Kye-sang (vocalist, actor), Danny Ahn (rapper, vocalist), Son Ho-young (vocalist), and Kim Tae-woo (main vocalist) -- each built substantial solo careers in music, acting, and entertainment during the group's hiatus years. After Yoon Kye-sang's departure to pursue acting, the group went on hiatus in 2005. The original five reunited in July 2014 with the digital single "The Lone Duckling" and the album Chapter 8. Since then they have sold out major concert venues consistently, including the Olympic Gymnastics Arena (KSPO Dome) for four consecutive years through 2025, with ticket demand comparable to globally active idol groups who promote far more aggressively.
