S.Coups

Choi Seungcheol (최승철), known professionally as S.Coups, is the leader of South Korean boy group SEVENTEEN and the head of its Hip-Hop Unit. Born August 8, 1995, in Daegu, he joined Pledis Entertainment as a trainee in 2009 and debuted with SEVENTEEN on May 26, 2015. Among the group's 13 original members, S.Coups holds the rare position of overall group leader, a role that demands both creative authority and emotional stewardship over one of K-pop's most structurally complex groups. Within SEVENTEEN's self-producing framework, he co-wrote and co-produced numerous group tracks, including Fear (2019), Left and Right (2020), and Rock with You (2021). He studied at the School of Performing Arts Seoul and enrolled in a master's program at Anyang University in 2022. SEVENTEEN's ascent under his leadership has included a Glastonbury Festival headline slot in 2024, multiple world tours with stadium-level stops, and the FML album setting a record as South Korea's fastest release to 2 million physical copies. In 2025, S.Coups accelerated his individual profile. German luxury house BOSS named him a Global Brand Ambassador in April. In September, he and SEVENTEEN bandmate Mingyu debuted as CxM, the group's fourth sub-unit, releasing the six-track EP Hype Vibes on September 29. The lead single 5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman) featured American rapper Lay Bankz and debuted at the top of multiple streaming charts, demonstrating that S.Coups' appeal translates beyond the group context.
