Choi Soo-young (최수영), known as Sooyoung, is a South Korean singer and actress born February 10, 1990, in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. Her older sister, Choi Soo-jin, is also a working actress. Standing 172cm tall, she graduated from Chung-Ang University's theater and film program in 2016 with a lifetime achievement award.
Discovered at an SM Entertainment open audition in fifth grade, she won first place at the 2002 Korea-Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition and debuted in Japan as part of Route 0 before returning to Korea. She debuted with Girls' Generation on August 5, 2007, becoming part of one of K-pop's most influential second-generation groups. The group's 20th anniversary reunion is set for 2027.
