The8 (디에잇, born Xu Minghao on November 7, 1997) is a Chinese singer, dancer, and mentor based in South Korea. He is a member of SEVENTEEN's performance unit, where his contemporary dance background and martial arts training distinguish him from typical idol choreography. Born in Haicheng, Liaoning Province, China, he trained at Beijing Contemporary Music Academy before joining Pledis Entertainment as a trainee. The8 made his debut with SEVENTEEN in May 2015 and has since built a parallel solo career rooted in Chinese-language music. His first solo EP "Stardust" released in December 2024, featuring three tracks including lead single "Orbit" with rapper JinJiBeWater. Earlier solo releases include "Night and Rain" (2018), "Dreams Come True" (2019), "Falling Down" (2020), "Side by Side" (2021), and "Hai Cheng" (2022), a track dedicated to his hometown. Beyond music, The8 has established himself as a mentor in survival show formats. He served as dance coach alongside Jolin Tsai on iQIYI's Youth With You in 2019, and returned as producer and mentor for Chuang Asia: Season 2 in February 2025. His fashion profile has grown alongside his solo work, with Louis Vuitton appointing him House Ambassador in 2025. He previously held ambassadorships with Maison Margiela and Speculum Eyewear. His stage name references the infinity symbol (∞), chosen to represent limitless potential. Known for his artistic approach to choreography and minimalist aesthetic, The8 splits his time between SEVENTEEN group activities in Korea and solo projects in China.
