T.O.P.

T.O.P. (탑), born Choi Seung-hyun (최승현), remains one of the most singular figures to come out of K-Pop's second generation. As BIGBANG's lead rapper, he brought a weight and stillness that changed how idol rap could sound. His baritone delivery made him instantly recognizable, and his pairing with G-Dragon helped define one of the most influential group dynamics of the 2000s and 2010s.

Outside the group, T.O.P. built a serious acting resume with Iris, 71: Into the Fire, Commitment, and Tazza: The Hidden Card. He also carved out a parallel identity in art and luxury culture, becoming known as a collector whose public image leaned closer to auteur celebrity than standard idol branding.

That distance from the conventional idol machine became even clearer after his split from YG Entertainment and his formal exit from BIGBANG in 2023. Rather than re-entering the market through another major company, T.O.P. rebuilt through TOPSPOT PICTURES, his independent label platform. The move gave him tighter control over music, visuals, and release timing at a stage when most legacy stars lean back on familiar infrastructure.

His first full solo album, ANOTHER DIMENSION, finally arrived in April 2026 after years of stop-start anticipation. That release did more than end a long drought. It re-established T.O.P. as an active recording artist with his own ecosystem, his own visual language, and no interest in chasing a standard comeback template.
