Wendy
Shon Seung-wan (손승완), known as Wendy (웬디), is the main vocalist of Red Velvet and one of the most technically reliable singers to come out of third-generation K-pop. Born on February 21, 1994 in Seoul, she spent formative years in Canada and the US before returning to Korea to train and debut with Red Velvet in 2014.Wendy launched her solo career in April 2021 with Like Water, then widened the range with Wish You Hell in March 2024. After her exclusive SM Entertainment contract expired in April 2025, she signed with ASND Entertainment for solo activities while remaining part of Red Velvet. That move set up her third EP, Cerulean Verge, and her first solo world tour, W:EALIVE, which pushed her into a larger standalone lane across Asia and North America.Beyond group and solo records, Wendy has built a strong cross-format profile. She hosted SBS Power FM's Wendy's Youngstreet, made her musical-theatre debut in Rebecca, and joined Got the Beat as part of SM's all-star performance unit. The common thread is control: clean technique, emotional precision, and a voice that keeps scaling without losing warmth.
