
SKIMS
SKIMS is an American shapewear and lifestyle brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian, Emma Grede, and Jens Grede in 2019. Built around size-inclusive basics and body-contouring solutions, the brand disrupted the intimates category by offering a full spectrum of nude shades across extended size ranges -- an approach that addressed a long-standing gap in mainstream fashion retail.
From its debut with a tightly edited shapewear collection, SKIMS expanded rapidly into loungewear, underwear, activewear, and swim. The brand's neutral, minimalist aesthetic and second-skin fit became hallmarks that resonated globally, helping SKIMS grow from a direct-to-consumer startup into a multi-channel retail presence stocked by Nordstrom, SSENSE, and Selfridges.
In 2023, SKIMS secured a landmark deal as the official underwear partner of the NBA, WNBA, and USA Basketball, cementing its transition from a celebrity-backed project to a serious sportswear contender. That same year the brand launched menswear with campaigns featuring athletes including Neymar Jr. and Nick Bosa, and opened flagship retail stores in New York and Los Angeles.
BLACKPINK's profile raised SKIMS visibility in Asia significantly. Both campaigns generated record engagement across Korean and Southeast Asian markets.
The NikeSKIMS partnership, announced February 18, 2025, represents the brand's most significant expansion to date. The joint venture with Nike launched its debut collection September 26, 2025, covering apparel, footwear, and accessories under a combined brand that merges Nike's sport science with SKIMS' fit technology. The Spring '26 collection, anchored by Lisa's campaign, marked the first time NikeSKIMS released a complete head-to-toe system of dress.
In November 2025, SKIMS closed a $225 million funding round led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, valuing the brand at $5 billion. The company projected over $1 billion in net sales by year end.
In 2026, SKIMS signed a 10-year lease for a 12,000 sq. ft. flagship at 245-247 Regent Street in London -- its first standalone UK store -- with an opening scheduled for summer 2026. NikeSKIMS simultaneously extended distribution to Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Korea in Spring 2026, accelerating the brand's international retail footprint with the NikeSKIMS partnership as a launchpad.
