DAILY:DIRECTION Arrive With Afrobeats in Their Blood
Six-member rookie group DAILY:DIRECTION made their explosive debut on February 23 with FIRST:DELIVERY, a single album anchored by the Afrobeats-infused title track ROOMBADOOMBA that signals something genuinely different for the 2026 class.

Six members. One agency. Zero precedent. According to ODDWAVE official announcement, DAILY:DIRECTION (데일리:디렉션) debuted on February 23, 2026, and they did not come quietly. Their debut single album FIRST:DELIVERY arrives with an Afrobeats-rooted title track that sets them apart from nearly every other group in the 2026 debut class before they have even played their second music show.
The Sound: Afro-Core Meets K-Pop Architecture
"ROOMBADOOMBA" is built on a rhythmic acoustic guitar loop with dreamy layering on top, per ODDWAVE official press release. The production sits in what some are calling "Afro-core" territory: the pulse and groove vocabulary of Afrobeats, filtered through the precise choreographic and vocal presentation that K-pop demands. The result is a track that feels both globally aware and distinctly their own. The song is not a novelty fusion experiment. It is a fully realized statement of intent.
The B-side, "SELF," takes a different lane entirely. A groovy R&B cut anchored by heavy synth bass and sophisticated percussion, it communicates acceptance of personal darkness as a condition of growth. Together, the two tracks sketch a group that already knows what it wants to say.
Meet the Six Members
En-Kim (Kim Min-su) leads the group as the designated leader. He is also one of two members with production credits on FIRST:DELIVERY. Before DAILY:DIRECTION, En-Kim competed on Mnet survival competition NCT Universe: Lastart and was previously attached to the cancelled pre-debut project Unname, as confirmed by MK Economy. His path to debut was longer than most, which may explain the maturity baked into the group approach.
Kim Joo-hyoung brings additional stage experience, having performed with the group Nine.i and competed on the survival show Universe League.
Lim Ji-hwan appeared as a contestant on Be My Boyz, the survival competition series. His stage presence in early performance footage is sharp.
E-Van is the other member with production credits on the debut. Two members contributing to the songwriting process before their first release is a statement about how DAILY:DIRECTION intends to be perceived: as artists, not as products.
Lee Won-woo competed on Boys II Planet before landing at ODDWAVE.
Jang Yoon-seok is the youngest, rounding out a lineup with more combined pre-debut experience than a typical rookie group reveals.
ODDWAVE: The Agency Behind the Debut
DAILY:DIRECTION is the first and only act signed to ODDWAVE, a newly established entertainment company founded by Park So-hee. Launching a six-member boy group as your opening move is a substantial bet. Early indicators suggest the label has prepared well. The debut materials, from the album concept to the choreography to the music video production, read as the work of a team that planned for this carefully rather than rushed it to market.
The debut album title, FIRST:DELIVERY, is thematically on point. It frames the album as a delivery from the group to its future fanbase: a package of intent, identity, and sound. The group name itself carries the same philosophy. Daily choices, accumulated, determine direction. It is a philosophy, not a concept. That distinction matters.
First Music Show: M Countdown, February 26
Three days after debut, DAILY:DIRECTION took the stage at Mnet M Countdown on February 26, earning a "HOT DEBUT" designation from the broadcast, as reported by StarNews Korea. Reviews from the performance noted polished choreography and confident stage presence from a group that had been together in public form for less than a week. For a rookie act from a brand new agency without the support structure of a major label, that kind of debut week is not guaranteed.
Why This Matters in 2026
The K-pop debut calendar is relentless. 2026 has already delivered a serious volume of new groups competing for the same fan attention. DAILY:DIRECTION separates themselves on sound. Afrobeats as a genre has proven its global commercial power through artists like Burna Boy, WizKid, and Tems. K-pop has circled it before, but rarely led with it as a core identity from day one. If the group can maintain the sonic direction through their next release, they will have staked out territory that is genuinely theirs.
The member roster adds a secondary angle. Multiple members arrived from survival show backgrounds where they did not win, but developed real performance craft. That experience shows. DAILY:DIRECTION does not perform like a group discovering who they are. They perform like a group that spent years figuring it out before they were ever allowed to say so publicly.
Watch for the next single. The question for any debut is whether it can be sustained. FIRST:DELIVERY sets the bar high.
