After eleven years under the same roof, Park Hye Soo (박혜수) and Ghost Studio have parted ways. On March 8, 2026, the Seoul-based agency confirmed that its exclusive contract with the actress had expired and would not be renewed. For an industry where agency relationships often last just a few years, this marks the end of something genuinely rare.
Eleven Years, One Agency
Park Hye Soo signed with Sim Entertainment in June 2015, the same month she debuted in the SBS medical drama Yong Pal alongside Kim Tae-hee. She has been with that agency, which later rebranded as Ghost Studio, ever since. The statement from Ghost Studio was brief and formal: "The exclusive contract with Park Hye-soo has recently expired, and we have decided not to renew the contract."
No further details were shared. As of now, she has not signed with another agency and remains a free agent.
A Career That Could Have Gone Much Further
The trajectory of Park Hye Soo's career is one of Korean entertainment's more complicated stories. She built real momentum in her early years, earning strong notices in college life drama Hello, My Twenties! (2016) and the romantic comedy Introverted Boss (2017). Her film work elevated her further, with a standout performance in the 2020 period workplace comedy Samjin Company English Class earning wide critical praise.
That momentum stalled hard in early 2021, when allegations of school bullying surfaced on an online community board. A netizen claimed to have been bullied by Park during their school years. Both Park and Ghost Studio denied the allegations as groundless and initiated legal proceedings. But in Korean entertainment, once the label attaches, it rarely fully disappears.
Her drama Dear. M, which was in production at the time, was shelved for years. It eventually aired on KBS Joy in April 2024 and KBS2 in July 2024, long past its original momentum. The ratings reflected the difficulty of the situation, finishing its run at 0.1%.
Building Something New in Paju
While the legal proceedings have continued, Park Hye Soo has not been idle. Reports confirmed that she opened and has been operating a cafe in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, a quieter city north of Seoul. In September 2025, she ended a four-year silence on social media, sharing personal photos with the caption "It's autumn now." The response from fans was immediate and warm.
The cafe venture and the social media return together signal something: she is still here, still building, still moving.
What Comes Next
Park Hye Soo turns 32 this November. She has the acting credits. She has the screen presence. The question is whether Korean broadcasters and streaming platforms are ready to work with her again while the legal dispute over the bullying allegations remains unresolved.
The defamation case has been ongoing since 2021. If it resolves in her favor, her path back to leading roles becomes significantly cleaner. In the meantime, the agency departure could actually be a strategic reset, allowing her to negotiate her next chapter without the weight of a label that has been closely associated with the controversy.
Whether that next chapter includes a drama comeback, more time running her cafe in Paju, or something else entirely, she is now free to decide on her own terms.
