Xdinary Heroes (엑스디너리 히어로즈) officially announced their 8th mini album DEAD AND on March 20, 2026, as confirmed by JYP Entertainment's official press release. The JYP Entertainment six-piece will drop a pre-release track on March 25 at 6 PM KST, with the full album arriving April 17 at 1 PM KST. Six months out from their seventh release, the band is already moving. No rest, no slow build.

Crime Board Aesthetic, Darker Tone Incoming

The first teaser visuals for DEAD AND showed the six members as silhouettes pinned to what appears to be a crime board, each one connected by strings and notes like suspects in an investigation. The imagery lands significantly darker than the dreamy, romantic palette of their previous album. If LXVE TO DEATH leaned into the idea of love as obsession, DEAD AND seems to ask what comes after. Whether the title resolves as a cliffhanger or a conclusion, the band is clearly leaning into conceptual continuity with their work.

In the lead-up, KBS declined to approve their upcoming track "X Room" for broadcast on March 4, as reported by Soompi, citing unspecified concerns. That kind of broadcast rejection in K-pop is rarely a coincidence with a comeback this close. It signals edge.

Who Is Xdinary Heroes

Xdinary Heroes are a six-member K-rock band under JYP Entertainment via its sub-label Studio J. The name is a deliberate shortening of "Extraordinary Heroes," built on the idea that anyone can become a hero. They debuted December 6, 2021 with the single "Happy Death Day" and have released seven albums since, each building on a connected narrative universe of their own design.

The lineup: Gunil on drums and vocals (the leader), Jungsu on vocals and keyboards, Gaon on rap and guitar, O.de on synthesizers and keyboards, Jun Han on guitar and vocals, and Jooyeon on bass and vocals. What makes them unusual in the JYP roster is the genre. Full instruments, live rock arrangements, K-pop production sensibility. The combination does not always exist, and they own it.

Their discography runs from the debut single through eight projects in under five years. The most recent, LXVE TO DEATH, came out October 24, 2025, per their official release history. DEAD AND arrives as their 8th mini album in that same timeline, maintaining the twice-yearly pace that has become their signature.

2025 Was Their Year to Break Out

Xdinary Heroes spent 2025 proving their live credentials to audiences who had not grown up in the K-pop sphere. They performed at Lollapalooza 2025 in July, according to festival organizers' lineup announcements, opened for Muse at Incheon Munhak Stadium in September, and played the Busan International Rock Festival the same month. These are not K-pop festival slots. These are rock festival stages, and the band earned them on performance merit.

At the 2025 Korea Global Music Awards (KGMA), they took the Best Band award, per KGMA's official winners list. At the Rock Sound Awards 2025, they won Fan Power, which in that context means their global audience in the alternative music space recognized them as their own. They capped the year with the finale of their BEAUTIFUL MIND world tour in Seoul, significant enough that they filmed a behind-the-scenes documentary of it.

2026 opened with their second fan meeting, XCLUSIVE PARTY, in January. The fanbase on Reddit and across fan communities has been vocal about the momentum: fans who found them through Lollapalooza are now deep in the discography, and long-time followers are watching the crossover happen in real time. The r/XdinaryHeroes community welcomed a wave of new fans in late 2025, evident from posts like "New fan im so excited" landing on the subreddit front page.

What to Watch For

The March 25 pre-release track drops at 6 PM KST (5 AM ET / 10 AM GMT). That will be the first concrete sound from the DEAD AND era, and given the crime board teaser imagery, fans are speculating it will go harder than anything from LXVE TO DEATH. The full album follows on April 17 at 1 PM KST (midnight ET / 5 AM BST), per the official announcement on March 20.

Eight mini albums in under five years. Lollapalooza. Opening for Muse. KBS rejecting your pre-release track for being too intense. If you have been sleeping on Xdinary Heroes, DEAD AND is the moment to pay attention.
