Chaeyoung

Son Chae-young (손채영), known as Chaeyoung, is the main rapper and sub-vocalist of TWICE, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015. Born April 23, 1999, in Seoul, she was the group's wild card from the start: where TWICE's identity leaned into high-gloss pop, Chaeyoung consistently pulled in the other direction, covering indie songs, learning guitar, and writing her own material years before a solo debut was announced. As an artist, she operates in a space most K-pop idols do not. She is tattooed, self-directed, and has spoken openly about introversion in an industry that rewards performance. Her credits as a songwriter date back to TWICE's catalogue, and her visual art has been exhibited alongside her music. In 2025, she debuted as a solo artist with LIL FANTASY vol.1, a 9-track full album led by the single Shoot (Firecracker). The album featured collaborations with SUMIN, Jibin of Y2K92, and Kai of Gliiico, and presented a sound that sat closer to indie-pop and alternative rap than standard K-pop fare. She also contributed to the animated film KPop Demon Hunters and remained an active member of TWICE as the group continued its THIS IS FOR World Tour into 2026. After a health hiatus, she returned to the tour on January 7, 2026.
