Chaeyoung
Son Chae-young (손채영), known professionally as Chaeyoung, is the main rapper and one of the strongest songwriters in TWICE. Since debuting under JYP Entertainment on October 20, 2015, she has occupied a lane that feels slightly sideways to idol orthodoxy, less interested in polish for its own sake and more drawn to authorship, texture, and personal taste.
Inside TWICE, Chaeyoung became essential because she brought contrast. Her tone cuts through the group's bright pop architecture, but so does her visual language and writing instinct. Over time, she expanded that identity through lyric credits, guitar-led covers, and artwork that made it clear she was building a full creative world rather than a standard idol side profile. That perspective carried naturally into her solo era.
Her first full-length solo project, Lil Fantasy Vol. 1, arrived in 2025 with a sound that leaned closer to indie pop and alternative rap than conventional K-pop solo packaging. The album, plus her contribution to KPop Demon Hunters, showed how comfortably she can move between idol infrastructure and a more self-directed creative voice. By 2026, Chaeyoung was still balancing that solo lane with TWICE's world-tour schedule, giving her one of the most distinct dual identities in the current girl-group field.
