Chisa

Chisa (치사), born Kondou Chisa (近藤千彩) on January 17, 2002, in Osaka, Japan, is the sub-leader, main vocalist, and eldest member of XG. Before she became an idol, she worked as an actress in Japan, an early-career path that distinguishes her from most of her group members and that shaped a comfort with performance contexts more varied than the idol industry typically develops. Chisa was the sixth member of XG to be publicly revealed, introduced on February 24, 2022, less than a month before the group's debut on March 18 with their first single "Tippy Toes." As the group's main vocalist, her role is to carry the tonal center of XG's sound: the group's "X-POP" concept, which blends K-pop training methodology with Japanese artistry and Western hip-hop and R&B references, requires vocal grounding that can hold across the genre collisions built into their arrangements. Her combined designation as sub-leader and eldest member gives her a specific structural function in the group dynamic.
