Dayoung

Dayoung (임다영) is a South Korean singer who makes the quiet work loud. Born Im Da-young on May 14, 1999, in Jeju Province, she trained at the School of Performing Arts Seoul and debuted on February 25, 2016, as a member of Starship Entertainment girl group WJSN (우주소녀). Nearly a decade into her group career, she made her solo move in September 2025 with the digital single album Gonna Love Me, Right?. The title track "body" climbed to number nine on Melon TOP100, cleared 10 million cumulative streams, and earned her a first-place win on SBS M The Show on September 23, 2025. NME, Billboard, and The Hollywood Reporter all named it one of the best K-pop tracks of 2025. Teen Vogue placed the music video in its year-end MV list. She took home Best Solo Artist (Female) at the 2025 Korea Grand Music Awards. When Starship gave the project minimal promotional support, Dayoung built the campaign herself: TikTok challenge collaborations, behind-the-scenes content, sustained performance presence. The follow-up single "What's a Girl to Do?" is confirmed for April 2026. Her first Waterbomb festival booking lands July 26, 2026. That booking did not come from WJSN. It came from "body." Within WJSN, she is a member of the WJSN Chocome sub-unit alongside Soobin, Luda, and Yeoreum. She participated in songwriting, composing, and album planning on her debut solo release.
