Gugudan
Gugudan (구구단) was a South Korean girl group formed by Jellyfish Entertainment in 2016 and the label's first girl group. The name references the Korean word for multiplication table, reflecting the nine-member lineup and their promise to multiply their charms exponentially. Nine members debuted on June 28, 2016 with the mini album Act. 1 The Little Mermaid -- Mimi, Hana, Haebin, Nayoung, Sejeong, Sally, Soyee, Mina, and Hyeyeon (who departed in October 2018). Sejeong and Mina had already drawn national attention by placing in the top rankings of Mnet's Produce 101 earlier that year and debuting with project group I.O.I, giving Gugudan a head start in visibility. The group released five extended plays and two studio albums across their four-year run, with highlights including Act. 1 The Little Mermaid (2016), Act. 4 Cait Sith (2017), and Act. 5 New Action (2018). After two years of minimal group activity, Gugudan officially disbanded on December 31, 2020. Sejeong and Mina each continued as solo artists and actors.
