Handong

Handong (한동, 韩东) gave Dreamcatcher a distinct cross-border dimension from the moment the group launched. Born in Wuhan, she entered K-pop through the MINX-to-Dreamcatcher reset and helped shape the group's darker rock-pop identity with a tone and stage manner that reads elegant rather than explosive. That balance has always been her lane. She does not overpower a performance. She gives it contour.

Her career has also moved on a slightly different axis from many Korean idol peers. In 2020 she stepped back from some group schedules while appearing on Chinese survival series Youth With You 2, then released the Chinese solo single First Light of Dawn later that year. That stretch established that her value was not limited to group activity. She could hold her own as a solo-facing artist while still remaining part of Dreamcatcher's wider story.

That dual-track identity became even clearer in 2025 when she launched L!GHTING, her own personal studio in China, after her exclusive contract with Dreamcatcher Company ended. She continues to be associated with Dreamcatcher while managing her independent work through L!GHTING, making her one of the cleaner examples of how a K-pop artist can keep group identity intact while building a separate platform across markets.
