Jackson Wang

Jackson Wang (왕잭슨, Wang Jia-er; born March 28, 1994, Hong Kong) turned a position in GOT7 into one of the most expansive solo platforms in Asian entertainment. The story starts before K-pop: his father Wang Ruiji was a world champion fencer, his mother Sophia Chua a competitive gymnast, and Jackson himself represented Hong Kong at the 2010 Asian Games in fencing, winning a team silver medal. He walked away from a fencing career to pursue entertainment, joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2010, and debuted with GOT7 in January 2014. That biography — elite athlete turned idol, Hong Kong identity navigating Korean industry — made him immediately legible as something different.
