Maggie Kang

Maggie Kang (강민지) is a Korean Canadian director, writer, and story artist whose work sits at the intersection of animation craft, Korean pop culture fluency, and global commercial scale. Born in Seoul and raised in Toronto, she studied classical animation at Sheridan College before building credits as a story artist on Puss in Boots, Rise of the Guardians, Kung Fu Panda 3, and Trolls, then moved up to head of story on The LEGO Ninjago Movie.

Her breakout as a filmmaker came with KPop Demon Hunters, the 2025 animated feature released through Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation. The film turned Kang from an industry name into a mainstream one, proving she could convert a culturally specific idea into global streaming scale without flattening its Korean identity.

In April 2026, Kang signed with The Present Company for her Korea activities while UTA continued to represent her overseas. The arrangement gives her a formal Korea-side base as she develops new projects tied to the local market, while preserving the international agency structure that helped carry her post-KPop Demon Hunters momentum.
