Semi
Semi (세미), born Goo Se-mi (구세미) on April 10, 2002, is a South Korean singer, bassist, and performer whose career has quietly covered more ground than her current band role might suggest at first glance. She first entered the idol system through Cignature, debuting on February 4, 2020 with "Nun Nu Nan Na" after being introduced as part of C9 Entertainment's next girl group in late 2019. Across Cignature's run, she held a classic multi-use idol position as vocalist, dancer, and maknae, moving through the group's early singles and EP cycle until its December 2024 disbandment.
LATENCY changed the frame around her. Instead of returning in another idol configuration, Semi joined LATENCY under Oddinary Records and took on bass, a role that pushed her further into a player-led setup and away from the usual girl-group expectations. That shift made her one of the most interesting members in the lineup because it asked fans to reassess her, not just follow her into a new logo.
The timing helped. LATENCY spent late 2025 building its identity through the web series Motchuh Do Rock!, then officially debuted on January 8, 2026 with "It Was Love." The group's first mini album LATE O'CLOCK arrived on March 18, 2026 and gave Semi a stronger platform to show how cleanly she could move from idol performance into a real band dynamic. Her value inside the group is not nostalgia for Cignature. It is the fact that she made the transition feel believable.
