Uemura Tomoya (植村 朋哉) is the leader, main vocalist, and main dancer of NEXZ, the JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Japan boy group formed through Nizi Project Season 2. Born January 19, 2006, in Munakata City, Fukuoka, Japan, he began dancing at age four after his father gave him a Michael Jackson DVD, developing popping, rocking, and house dance skills across more than a decade of competition. He competed in Challenge Cup (3rd grade), the All Japan Super Kids Dance Contest (2016), Dance Cup (2017), and WDC Kids Allstyle (2019) before joining JYP Entertainment as a trainee at age 13 for two years and seven months.
Ranked first in the Nizi Project Season 2 finals, Tomoya was the first member revealed and led NEXZ into their Korean debut on May 20, 2024, with the single album Ride the Vibe. The group followed with the EP Nallina in October 2024, O-RLY? in April 2025, and Beat-Boxer in October 2025. The One Bite Japan tour ran 18 shows across 15 cities, drawing more than 50,000 attendees, and their first Korean concert One Beat was held at Olympic Hall in Seoul on October 25-26, 2025. An ENFJ who also composes music, his life goal is to remain part of NEXZ forever. Blood type A, his group animal symbol is the penguin.
