Geffen Records is an American record label founded by David Geffen in 1980, now operating under Interscope Geffen A&M within Universal Music Group. The label built its reputation on era-defining rock acts: Guns N'Roses, Nirvana, Aerosmith, and Cher all released landmark work through Geffen during the 1980s and 1990s. Relaunched in 2017 with a focus on developing global talent, the label's most ambitious current project is its partnership with HYBE to create KATSEYE, the multinational girl group formed through The Debut: Dream Academy. The collaboration represents one of the most significant East-West pop ventures in the industry, bridging K-pop's training infrastructure with Western label distribution and marketing power. KATSEYE earned two Grammy nominations in their debut year, validating the model. Geffen's legacy stretches across four decades of popular music. From Nirvana's Nevermind to Guns N'Roses' Appetite for Destruction, the label's catalog includes some of the best-selling albums in history.
