Kai

Kim Jong-in (김종인), known professionally as Kai (카이), is a South Korean singer, dancer, and actor under SM Entertainment. Born January 14, 1994, in Suncheon, South Korea, he is widely regarded as one of K-pop's most technically accomplished dancers. He is a member of the boy group EXO and its subunit EXO-K, as well as former supergroup SuperM. Kai launched his solo career on November 30, 2020, with his self-titled debut EP, which hit No. 1 on iTunes in 55 countries and topped China's QQ Music and Kugou Music digital album charts. He followed with Peaches (2021), Rover (2023), and Wait On Me (April 21, 2025). The Wait On Me EP was his first solo release following his military discharge, with the pre-release single "Adult Swim" named by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the best K-pop songs of 2025. Bandwagon Asia called the full album "the K-pop album of the year." On January 19, 2026, Kai joined EXO for the release of their 8th full-length album. Beyond music, Kai has built a reputation as a global fashion figure. He served as a Global Ambassador for Gucci from 2021 and was named Brand Ambassador for LACOSTE Korea in February 2026. He has also worked with MAC Cosmetics (China) and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty. In acting, his credits include the KBS drama Andante (2017) and the Japanese drama Spring Has Come (2018). He performed a solo dance at the closing ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Kai began training in ballet in third grade after watching The Nutcracker, and started jazz dancing at age eight. His father, now deceased, was credited as the most important figure in his path toward dance.
