PJ
PJ (박현진, Park Hyun-jin) is a South Korean singer and the leader of hard-of-hearing boy group Big Ocean under PARASTAR Entertainment. Born October 24, 1999, in Seoul, PJ has been profoundly deaf in his right ear since childhood. Formerly known by his birth name Hyunjin, he rebranded as PJ in April 2025.
PJ trained as a swimmer before pivoting to music, channeling the same discipline into performance. He holds the leader position in Big Ocean, anchoring the group both vocally and in terms of stage presence. His ability to perform without full auditory feedback has become a defining element of his artistic identity. When Big Ocean debuted with the single "Glow" on April 20, 2024, a reimagined version of H.O.T.'s "Hope," PJ became part of history as a member of the first hard-of-hearing idol group to compete on the same stage as their fully-hearing peers. In 2025, Big Ocean earned a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list, and PJ stood onstage at the United Nations Development Programme in New York. The group's third mini album THE GREATEST BATTLE, released March 3, 2026, marks Big Ocean's most ambitious work to date, with PJ credited as a co-composer on "One Man Army."
