For those unfamiliar, Coupang is Korea's largest e-commerce platform, functioning much like Amazon, and its distribution centers run around the clock with a demanding physical workload.

On February 27, 2026, Im Joo Hwan's agency Base Camp Company issued a brief, direct statement to the press: "It is true that Im Joo Hwan worked at the distribution center." No further details were provided regarding the duration or circumstances. The confirmation was enough.

People who witnessed it described the same thing. "He worked really hard," one person wrote. "He just worked quietly and then left." There were no complaints, no requests for special treatment, and no attempt to avoid recognition. He showed up, worked his shift, and went home.

Who Is Im Joo Hwan

Im Joo Hwan has been a recognizable face in Korean drama for nearly two decades. Born in Seoul in 1982, he broke through with the 2009 MBC period-romantic drama Tamra, the Island, which built him a devoted following across Asia despite modest domestic ratings. His run of roles since then spans genres: the devoted older brother in Ugly Alert (2013), a rival lead in Uncontrollably Fond (2016) alongside Kim Woo-bin, and the fantasy romance The Bride of Habaek (2017). His most recent credit was the 2020 MBC thriller The Game: Towards Zero, where he starred opposite Taecyeon and Lee Yeon-hee.

That role marked his last major drama appearance. Since then, he has maintained a low public profile, a hiatus that has now stretched past five years.
