Born Jeon So-min (전소민) on August 22, 1996, she brings an extensive K-pop background that predates KARD by years. Before joining the co-ed group, Somin debuted in Puretty, DSP Media's Japanese girl group, in September 2012, a project that ran until 2014. She later competed on the Kara Project audition program and finished in second place in the nationwide search to become a new member of legendary girl group KARA, according to DSP Media's official group history. Somin briefly joined April as its leader in August 2015 but departed in November of that year.
