Solar (MAMAMOO) Teams Up with Accusefive on New Chinese Single 'Your Own Star'
MAMAMOO's Solar drops her second Chinese-language single in collaboration with Taiwanese Gen Z indie band Accusefive, and the song hits harder than expected.
March 11, 2026
Solar is not dipping her toes into the Chinese-speaking market. She is fully committed. On March 9, 2026, the MAMAMOO leader released her second Chinese-language single, “Your Own Star” (總有一顆屬於你的星球), this time alongside Taiwanese indie band Accusefive (告五人). The result is something that neither K-pop nor Taiwanese indie typically produces on its own: a quiet, emotionally precise song about finding your place in the universe, built by two artists from completely different musical worlds.
A Song About Coordinates, Not Destinations
“Your Own Star” was co-written and co-composed by Solar and Accusefive’s Pan Yun-an, the band’s vocalist and guitarist. That creative collaboration runs deeper than a feature credit. The song explores the search for personal direction and meaning amid the overwhelming flow of time, according to RBW, and the lyrical approach reflects both artists’ sensibilities: Solar’s knack for emotional directness, and Accusefive’s signature folk-pop introspection. The goal, as framed by the label, was musical synergy that transcends borders and languages. They got there.
Who Are Accusefive?
If you are not already following the Taiwanese indie scene, Accusefive is the group to know. The three-piece band, founded in Yilan County in April 2017, won Best New Artist at the Golden Indie Music Awards that same year and has spent the years since building a devoted Gen Z fanbase across Taiwan and Chinese-speaking regions. Members Pan Yun-an (vocals, guitar), Tsai Pei (vocals, keyboard), and Richard Lin (drums) specialize in a sound that blends indie rock, folk, and pop in a way that feels effortless. The collaboration with Solar is their most high-profile crossover into the K-pop sphere, and based on the early reception, it will not be their last.
Solar’s Chinese Market Playbook Is Working
“Your Own Star” is not Solar’s first move in this direction. In June 2025, she released her debut Chinese single, “Floating Free,” with Taipei-based singer-songwriter 9m88. That track topped Taipei’s iTunes Top Songs chart and KKBOX’s Top Trending Songs chart, and Solar followed it with a solo fan concert at the Taipei International Convention Center on June 22, 2025, where she communicated with roughly 100 local media outlets in Chinese.
That is not a soft launch. That is a strategic market entry, executed with intention. RBW is building something here, and Solar’s willingness to engage directly, in Mandarin, with local media and fans gives this expansion real credibility. Where many K-pop artists release Chinese-language tracks as a commercial gesture, Solar is putting in the cultural work.
What’s Next for Solar and MAMAMOO
The release arrives at a busy moment for the MAMAMOO universe. Fellow member Moonbyul is set to drop her single “REV” on March 25, 2026, and the group itself is planning a full-group album for June 2026 to mark their 12th anniversary, accompanied by a 26-city world tour. Solar’s Chinese-market push is running in parallel with the group’s biggest comeback cycle in years, which means the group’s international footprint is expanding on multiple fronts simultaneously.
Fans on Reddit’s r/kpop thread for the release were broadly enthusiastic, with one commenter noting the track felt like “a lovely addition to the meaningful message of the song” after hearing radio previews ahead of the drop. Others admitted surprise at the Accusefive pairing, but in a good way. That reaction is telling: Solar has earned enough trust that even unexpected creative swings land as exciting rather than confusing.
