TUNEXX debuts today with mini-album SET BY US ONLY and title track Proof That I Am Alive, led by Boys II Planet alumni and produced by Black Eyed Pilseung's Choi Gyu-sung.

Seven months of teasers, three concept photo sets, and a pre-debut following built from scratch on an anonymous Instagram account. TUNEXX (튜넥스) arrives today, March 3, and they are not here to ease into anything.
The seven-member boy group under IST Entertainment drops their debut mini-album "SET BY US ONLY" at 6 PM KST, led by title track "Proof That I Am Alive" (내가 살아있다는 증거). The rollout has been meticulous: a full timetable, three distinct concept photo versions, a self-produced reality series, and a highlight medley that confirmed what the teaser campaign promised. TUNEXX came in with something to say.
Who Is TUNEXX?
Seven members: Donggyu (leader), Inhu, Taira, Sungjun, Zeon, Sihwan, and Arctic. Four of them, Donggyu, Inhu, Sihwan, and Arctic, are alumni of Mnet's survival competition "Boys II Planet" (2025), bringing a pre-built fan base and competition-forged stage experience into the group's first chapter. The other three, Taira, Sungjun, and Zeon, are faces that IST developed quietly in-house.
The group name carries weight: TUNEXX fuses the word "TUNE" with "X," where X signals two things simultaneously, unclassified and cross. The idea being that the group's sound cannot be pinned down by genre, and that their artistic identity sits at the intersection of multiple influences. Bold claim for a debut. "Proof That I Am Alive" is their first argument for it.
The Sound: Electronic Hip-Hop With a Swagger Problem
The title track is an electronic hip-hop record built on a sophisticated, layered beat. The structure plays a deliberate contrast between rap and melody lines, with Donggyu, Zeon, and Sihwan handling the lyric writing. Their contribution to the track is more than a credit: lines like "Bite, rip, taste, yum yum" and "Now the time is my time" telegraph a group comfortable being weird on purpose, staking confidence over polish as their opening move.
"SET BY US ONLY" runs four tracks. Beyond the title, there is "100%" (another Donggyu/Zeon/Sihwan writing credit, built around the energy of approaching debut day), "Obsessed" (described as a groovy atmospheric cut), and "Twenty Something" (a band-sound based track that frames the feeling of being at the edge of something). The album was produced overall by Choi Gyu-sung of Black Eyed Pilseung, the production house behind some of the biggest chart records in recent K-pop history.
The Pre-Debut Infrastructure
What separates TUNEXX from a standard label introduction is the fan base they built before anyone told them to. Their secondary account, 0v__x0, accumulated roughly 100,000 followers across Instagram and YouTube through personal posts during the trainee period, with no official promotion attached. When the debut campaign launched, those followers already knew the members' personalities, inside jokes, and individual aesthetics. IST turned that raw community into a formal fandom by folding the 0v_x0 branding into one of the album's three concept photo versions.
The concept photo campaign itself ran in three chapters: UNSET, US ONLY, and 0v_x0. Each version brought a different register, energetic group formation in the UNSET version, individual warmth and casual camaraderie in 0v_x0, a rebellious youth angle in US ONLY, where members shot in black sportswear and denim under the tagline "Us only." Three moods, one consistent visual argument: TUNEXX have a look, they have chemistry, and they had it before the label packaged it.
IST Entertainment's Next Chapter
For IST Entertainment, TUNEXX represent the agency's bid to stay competitive in a generation where the bar for new boy group launches has risen sharply. The label's prior act WEi debuted in 2020 and has maintained a steady, loyal following. Before that, IST Entertainment (formerly known as PlayM Entertainment) was home to Apink and boy groups A.C.E and VICTON. TUNEXX is their most high-profile debut in years, and the survival show pedigree of half the lineup gives the group an immediate narrative hook beyond just the music.
The group's debut day also lands in the middle of one of the busiest March comeback seasons in recent memory, competing for attention with established acts across the industry. Debuting on a day when every stream and chart move counts is a calculated choice. It signals that IST believes the fanbase TUNEXX built is real enough to make noise on drop day rather than waiting for a quieter window.
What to Watch
"Proof That I Am Alive" and the full "SET BY US ONLY" album land on all major streaming platforms today at 6 PM KST. The music video drops simultaneously. TUNEXX's own reality series "For the First Time Ever" is releasing weekly every Thursday at 7 PM KST on their official YouTube channel. For a debut group, their content strategy is unusually dense. Pay attention to where the first-week numbers land.
