Baekhyun
Byun Baek-hyun, known mononymously as Baekhyun, is a South Korean vocalist who has shaped the sound of K-pop across multiple eras. Born May 6, 1992 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, he joined SM Entertainment in 2011 and debuted as the main vocalist of EXO in 2012. His rich, emotive tenor and dynamic stage presence quickly established him as one of the premier voices in K-pop.
Baekhyun has demonstrated remarkable versatility across EXO's discography and through sub-unit work with Exo-CBX alongside Chen and Xiumin. In 2019, he led the Capitol Records-backed supergroup SuperM, which brought together elite performers from SM's top groups for Western market expansion.
His solo career has been historic. City Lights (2019) became the best-selling album by a Korean solo artist in the 2010s. Delight (2020) sold over one million copies, making Baekhyun the first solo artist in South Korea to achieve that milestone in 19 years. Bambi (2021) continued this streak before his military enlistment.
In January 2024, Baekhyun departed SM Entertainment to launch INB100, his independent label, alongside Xiumin and Chen. He quickly resumed solo activities with the Lonsdaleite concert tour across Asia and released Hello, World (September 2024), his fourth mini album. Essence of Reverie (May 2025) debuted to chart-topping success, leading to the Reverie World Tour starting June 2025 at KSPO Dome in Seoul.
Beyond music, Baekhyun starred in the SBS historical drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), earning a New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. He holds a 3rd dan black belt in Hapkido. He has won the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Male Artist three consecutive years (2019-2021), cementing his status as the top-performing solo male artist in contemporary K-pop. Known as the Genius Idol for his quick thinking and adaptability, Baekhyun continues to push boundaries as both an artist and entrepreneur.
