IZ*ONE
IZ*ONE (아이즈원) was a South Korean-Japanese girl group formed through Mnet's competition show Produce 48, debuting on October 29, 2018 under Off the Record Entertainment and Swing Entertainment. The twelve-member lineup united nine Korean trainees and three Japanese members from the AKB48 family: Jang Won-young, Miyawaki Sakura, Jo Yu-ri, Choi Ye-na, An Yu-jin, Yabuki Nako, Kwon Eun-bi, Kang Hye-won, Honda Hitomi, Kim Chae-won, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Chae-yeon.
The group name breaks down as "IZ" -- a numeronym for 12, honoring their twelve members -- and "One," representing their unity. The asterisk between them symbolizes the astrological signs of the zodiac. Their official fandom name, Wiz*One, mirrors that same construction.
IZ*ONE's debut EP Color*Iz arrived with "La Vie en Rose" as its lead single, selling over 225,000 units and setting a record for the highest first-day sales by a debuting girl group at the time. The music video for "La Vie en Rose" logged more than 4.5 million views in its first 24 hours, another debut record for a Korean act. Their Japanese debut single "Suki to Iwasetai" (February 2019) peaked at number two on the Oricon Singles Chart and was certified platinum by the RIAJ with over 250,000 unit sales.
Over their two-and-a-half-year run, IZ*ONE released four Korean EPs, three Japanese EPs, one Korean studio album (EYES ON ME, 2019), and one Japanese studio album (BLOOM, 2020). They claimed New Artist of the Year at the Golden Disc Awards and Seoul Music Awards, among numerous honors throughout their active period.
The group officially disbanded on April 29, 2021 following the conclusion of their contract. Members returned to their original agencies or launched independent careers: Jang Won-young and An Yu-jin debuted in IVE, Kim Chae-won leads LE SSERAFIM, and Kim Min-ju has established herself as an actress under Management SOOP, most recently starring in the 2026 JTBC drama Still Shining.
