Jeongyeon

Yoo Jeong-yeon (유정연), known as Jeongyeon, is the lead vocalist of TWICE, the nine-member girl group formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015. Born November 1, 1996, in Suwon, South Korea, she trained under JYP after being scouted as a teenager. Her older sister is actress Gong Seungyeon, making them one of K-pop's most recognized sibling pairs. Jeongyeon's grounded, versatile vocal tone anchors TWICE's harmonies and has remained one of the group's most distinctive sonic signatures across a decade of releases. Her run with TWICE has included significant personal challenges: she underwent surgery for a herniated disc in 2020, then took a three-month hiatus for anxiety disorder in late 2020, returning in January 2021. A second hiatus for panic and anxiety disorder followed in August 2021, with a full return to group activities in February 2022. Jeongyeon contributed vocals to TAKEDOWN on the KPop Demon Hunters OST (2025) alongside fellow members Jihyo and Chaeyoung. On TWICE's fourth full album THIS IS FOR (July 2025), she appeared on the sub-unit track LET LOVE GO alongside Momo, Sana, and Tzuyu, and released her first individual solo track "FIX A DRINK" -- a country-inflected number performed exclusively on the THIS IS FOR World Tour. Across a decade with TWICE, Jeongyeon has performed at sold-out stadiums worldwide and helped the group surpass 20 million Spotify followers.
