J.Y. Park

Park Jin-young (박진영), known as J.Y. Park or "The Asiansoul," is one of K-pop's most influential architects. The founder and Chief Creative Officer of JYP Entertainment has spent three decades reshaping Korean music from both sides of the studio glass, building a label that gave the world TWICE, Stray Kids, g.o.d, Wonder Girls, and 2PM, while maintaining an active solo career defined by funk-soul grooves and self-referential wit.

Born December 13, 1971 in Seoul, Park debuted as a solo artist in 1994 with the album Blue City, breaking through with "Don't Leave Me." He founded JYP Entertainment in 1997 and spent the next three decades producing some of K-pop's most commercially dominant acts. His whispered "J.Y.P." producer signature, placed at the top of countless hit records, became the most recognizable tag in the genre.

His solo discography favors funk, soul, and R&B over the polished pop of his label acts. "Who's Your Mama?" (2015, featuring Jessi) and "When We Disco" (2020, with Sunmi) are the clearest examples: music built on groove rather than chart calculation. In December 2024, he celebrated his 30th debut anniversary with the Still JYP concert series at Seoul's Olympic Hall.

In September 2025, Park accepted the largest role of his career outside music: co-chairman at ministerial level of the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange under President Lee Jae Myung. Charged with positioning South Korea among the world's top five cultural powers, he subsequently stepped down from JYP Entertainment's board of directors to focus on the role full-time alongside his creative work.
