Jinyoung

Jinyoung (박진영, Park Jin-young; born September 22, 1994, Changwon, South Korea) operates in two registers that rarely coexist: the committed idol and the prestige drama actor. He won first place at a JYP Entertainment open audition in 2009 alongside Jay B — both outperforming 10,000 applicants — and spent four years in training before debuting as a founding member of GOT7 in January 2014. Within the group he held vocalist, visual, and center positions while simultaneously developing an acting career with more range than most idol-to-actor transitions produce. The shift crystallized after GOT7's 2021 departure from JYP. Jinyoung signed with BH Entertainment, a choice he credited to conversations with veteran actors Yoo Ji-tae and Park Hae-soo, and took on The Devil Judge (2021), a political thriller opposite Ji Sung that resonated with tvN audiences. Yumi's Cells (2021-2022) followed before mandatory military service intervened: he enlisted May 8, 2023 and was discharged November 7, 2024. Post-discharge, the pace accelerated. GOT7 reunited for Winter Heptagon in January 2025. Jinyoung headlined The Witch (2025) and Our Unwritten Seoul (2025) on Netflix, then moved into Still Shining (2026, JTBC), his most prominent lead to date. The romantic drama lands on Netflix in March 2026. He also released the solo mini album Chapter 0: With in January 2023, adding songwriter credits to a portfolio that already covers vocalist, choreographer, and increasingly reliable dramatic lead.
