TVING

South Korea's leading OTT streaming platform, TVING (티빙) traces its origins to May 31, 2010, when it launched as a streaming arm of CJ HelloVision. In January 2016, operations transferred to CJ E&M, and on October 1, 2020, the service relaunched as TVING Corporation, a joint venture between CJ ENM and JTBC Studios (now SLL). The relaunch consolidated South Korean streaming at a critical moment when Netflix was accelerating its Korean content investments. The ownership structure reflects deep industry buy-in: CJ Group holds 48.85%, with KT Studio Genie, JC & Partners, SLL, and Naver Corporation rounding out the register. Naver's KRW 40 billion investment in June 2021 made it the second-largest shareholder. The platform reported 4.2 million subscribers as of 2024, with CEO Choi Ju-hee (before 2025) and current leadership focused on global expansion. Key platform moves included absorbing KT's Seezn streaming platform in 2022, launching a Paramount+ content hub, and signing a landmark deal with Disney+ Japan in November 2025 -- bringing a curated TVING Collection hub to Japanese subscribers. In late 2025, TVING's originals "The Queen Who Crowns" and "Study Group" ranked in the weekly TOP 5 across 143 countries, with "EXchange: Another Beginning" further proving the platform's ability to expand content in new directions. TVING's 2025 content strategy is organised around three pillars: "Infinite Spectrum" (genre diversity), "Signature Content" (franchise IP development), and "Immersive Sports" (live sports rights, including KBO League, Pro Basketball, and all four Grand Slam tennis events). Original content spans K-dramas, variety, sports, films, and documentaries, with Studio Dragon and CJ ENM Studios supplying much of the premium scripted slate. The platform's sister channel tvN continues to be one of its primary content feeds.
