Kim Yoo Jung and Park Jinyoung are set to lead tvN new historical drama 100 Day Lie, a colonial-era espionage thriller from the director of Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

Two of K-drama's most compelling leads are joining forces. Park Jinyoung of GOT7 and Kim Yoo Jung (김유정) have been confirmed as the leads in tvN's upcoming historical drama 100 Day Lie, a colonial-period espionage thriller that looks like one of the most ambitious projects of the year.
A Pickpocket, a Double Agent, and the Fight for Liberation
Set during the Japanese colonial period, 100 Day Lie follows Lee Ga Kyung, a streetwise pickpocket who gets recruited by a national liberation movement to infiltrate the Government-General of Colonial Chosun. The drama takes the period thriller genre somewhere darker and more politically charged than most tvN offerings, and the premise alone earns serious attention.
Kim Yoo Jung plays Lee Ga Kyung: skilled, calculating, and quietly dangerous under a surface-level con. Opposite her, Park Jinyoung takes on the role of Kim Tae Woong, also known as Sato Hideo, the adopted son of a senior colonial official. Trilingual in Korean, Japanese, and English, he works as a translator at the Government-General and crosses paths with Lee Ga Kyung in circumstances that are unlikely to be coincidental.
The supporting cast rounds out the picture with serious acting credibility: Kim Hyun Joo, Lee Moo Saeng, and Jin Sun Kyu are all attached.
A Director and Writer With Real Track Records
The creative team is what elevates this from promising to must-watch. Director Yoo In Sik is the man behind Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim, two dramas that dominated their respective seasons and proved he knows how to balance character depth with pacing. Writer Ryu Bo Ri previously penned Do You Like Brahms? and The Interest of Love, both emotionally precise dramas built on tension between people who cannot be entirely honest with each other. That writing sensibility fits the double-agent premise perfectly.
Kim Yoo Jung's Return to the Historical Genre
The casting of Kim Yoo Jung makes immediate sense. She built her reputation in historical drama, earning the nickname "Sageuk Fairy" after breakout roles in Love in the Moonlight (2016) and Lovers of the Red Sky (2021). Those performances established her as an actress who can carry period productions with genuine emotional weight. 100 Day Lie marks a tonal shift to something grittier and more overtly political, which is exactly the kind of evolution worth watching.
Park Jinyoung Keeps Adding to His Acting Portfolio
Park Jinyoung has been steadily building an acting career alongside his music work with GOT7. His current JTBC drama Still Shining is airing now, making 100 Day Lie a second significant commitment lined up. Taking on a colonial-era role with moral ambiguity at its core signals a clear intent to push his range beyond the romantic lead territory he has occupied recently.
What We Know So Far
100 Day Lie is set to air on tvN in the second half of 2026. No specific premiere date has been announced. Production details suggest Studio Dragon involvement, consistent with tvN's premium drama slate.
This one is going on the calendar.
