Wonpil

Wonpil (원필), born Kim Won-pil (김원필), is the melodic hinge of DAY6. As the band's main vocalist and keyboardist under JYP Entertainment, he helped define a version of idol-band music that feels emotionally direct without sacrificing arrangement detail. His playing gives DAY6 its softest edges, while his voice often carries the group's most vulnerable songs over the line.

That balance became even clearer as DAY6 expanded from cult band status into one of Korean pop-rock's most durable catalogs. Wonpil's classical piano background shaped the group's harmonic identity from the start, but he never played like a conservatory purist. He plays for drama, for tension, and for release, which is why his presence lands just as strongly on ballads as it does on brighter festival records alongside Young K and Dowoon.

His solo material made that authorship impossible to ignore. Pilmography opened his individual chapter in 2022 with piano-led writing that felt intimate rather than ornamental. Unpiltered, released in 2026, pushed further: broader in texture, cleaner in concept, and confident enough to let restraint do the work. Wonpil remains essential to DAY6, but his solo catalog now stands on its own terms as one of the most coherent side discographies to come out of JYP's band system.
