Jennie
Jennie (제니), born Jennie Kim on January 16, 1996, is the rare K-pop star whose solo career hits with the same force as her group work. After moving from South Korea to New Zealand as a child and returning to audition for YG Entertainment in 2010, she debuted with BLACKPINK in August 2016 and immediately became one of the defining faces of the group's global rise.
Her solo lane has never felt like a side project. 2018 single "SOLO" became the first music video by a Korean female soloist to cross one billion YouTube views, while later releases kept raising the ceiling. "You & Me" topped the Billboard Global Excl. US chart in 2023. "Spot!" with ZICO gave her another Korean number one in 2024. Then Ruby, released through ODD ATELIER and Columbia Records in March 2025, sold one million copies worldwide and produced the Billboard Global 200 standouts "Mantra" and "Like Jennie."
Jennie also sits at the center of fashion's K-pop power shift. She remains one of Chanel's most important global ambassadors, and her business move into ODD ATELIER turned her from idol-star talent into operator. Add her acting debut in HBO's The Idol, and the picture is clear: Jennie is not just one quarter of BLACKPINK. She is one of the clearest models for how a Korean pop star can scale music, luxury, and authorship at the same time.
