Lia
Choi Ji-su (최지수), known by her stage name Lia, is the main vocalist of ITZY under JYP Entertainment. Born July 21, 2000, in Incheon, South Korea, she spent formative years in Toronto, Canada, before returning to Korea. She initially passed an audition for SM Entertainment but withdrew due to a disagreement with her parents, then enrolled at North London Collegiate School Jeju. In 2017, she passed a JYP Entertainment audition and trained for two years, later graduating from the School of Performing Arts Seoul.
Lia debuted with ITZY on February 12, 2019, with It'z Different and its lead single "Dalla Dalla." She earned quick recognition as the group's vocal anchor, with a tone and technical range that contrasted ITZY's high-energy dance-forward image. In 2022, she released "Always Be Your Star" for MBC's The Red Sleeve OST, and "Blue Flower" for tvN's Alchemy of Souls 2, which charted at number 184 on the Circle Chart. On May 26, 2023, she released "One Hundred Love" for the Dr. Romantic OST.
In September 2023, JYP Entertainment announced Lia would take a hiatus to receive treatment for anxiety. During her break, she co-wrote and released "Blossom," a solo track from ITZY's EP Born to Be, dedicated to her fans. She returned to activities in July 2024 and resumed her contributions to the group, releasing "Why Not" for SBS's The Fiery Priest 2 and "Woodahe" for JTBC's The Tale of Lady Ok OST. In 2022, Lia donated 30 million won to The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to support flood victims; she donated another 30 million won in December 2023.
