Suga (민윤기) has always been the quiet storm inside BTS. Born Min Yoongi in Daegu on March 9, 1993, he arrived at Big Hit as a producer first and performer second, bringing a raw honesty to his lyrics that drew from struggles with depression, social anxiety, and the pressures of Korean society. Under his solo alias Agust D, he released three projects that rank among K-pop’s most critically acclaimed bodies of work: 2016’s Agust D, 2020’s D-2 (which debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200), and 2023’s D-DAY, supported by a solo world tour that cemented his reputation as one of the genre’s most compelling live performers. His production credits extend far beyond BTS, with collaborations with Halsey, Juice WRLD, MAX, and IU, building a reputation as one of the most versatile producers to emerge from K-pop. A chronic shoulder injury led to his completing mandatory military service as a social service agent, the last BTS member to be discharged in June 2025. With the group’s 2026 reunion now underway and the release of BTS’s fifth studio album ARIRANG (March 20, 2026), Suga returns not just as a rapper but as one of the most respected creative minds in Korean music. The group’s ARIRANG World Tour, spanning 2026-2027, marks one of K-pop’s most anticipated live events in years.
