Tiffany Young (황미영, Stephanie Young Hwang) and actor Byun Yo Han (변요한) officially registered their marriage on February 27, 2026, making Tiffany the first member of legendary K-pop group Girls' Generation (소녀시대) to get married since the group's debut in 2007. No elaborate ceremony, no red carpet. Just two people who fell for each other on set, making it official.
The Announcement
Byun Yo Han's agency TEAMHOPE broke the news with a statement confirming the couple completed their marriage registration "based on deep trust in and love for one another." The agency added that the two are considering a small, private ceremony in the form of a church service with family, though no date, time, or location has been set.
The agency's statement also addressed the media storm surrounding the couple: "We feel cautious and concerned that the continuing news might cause some fatigue. However, the two actors told us they wanted to share the news first with their fans, who have always watched over them with great love." That level of consideration for their fan communities says a lot about who they are.
How It Started: Uncle Samsik
Their love story has a very specific origin point: Disney+'s Korean original series "Uncle Samsik" (삼식이 삼촌), which premiered in May 2024. Set against the backdrop of 1960s Korea, the period drama starred Song Kang-ho in the title role, with Byun Yo Han playing Kim San, an ambitious idealist determined to feed a nation. Tiffany played Rachel Jung, and the two reportedly grew close during production.
By December 2025, both their agencies confirmed the relationship publicly, accompanied by handwritten letters from each of them to their respective fans. Crucially, both made clear they were dating "with marriage in mind." Less than three months later, they made it legal.
Who They Are
Tiffany Young needs little introduction to anyone who grew up with K-pop. Born in San Francisco in 1989 and discovered by SM Entertainment at 15, she moved to Korea as a teenager and trained for years before debuting with Girls' Generation in 2007. The group went on to become one of the most influential acts in K-pop history, and Tiffany's stage presence, vocal ability, and undeniable charisma were central to that legacy. She parted ways with SM in 2017 and has since built a dual career as a solo artist and actress, appearing in the JTBC drama "Reborn Rich" (2022) before her Uncle Samsik role.
Byun Yo Han, born in 1986 and an actor since 2011, built his reputation the slow way: through independent films and small screen roles before breaking through in tvN's "Misaeng" (2013) and the critically acclaimed period epic "Mr. Sunshine" (2018). His filmography also includes the blockbuster "Hansan: Rising Dragon" (2022). He's a respected performer with serious dramatic range, the kind of actor who quietly earns his place in every room he enters.
First SNSD Member to Tie the Knot
The historic angle here cannot be overstated. Girls' Generation, one of the most beloved girl groups ever, debuted in 2007 with nine members. Almost two decades on, Tiffany is the first to marry. For the global SONE (the group's fanbase) community, this moment lands with genuine emotional weight. These are women fans have followed through their teens and twenties into adulthood, and watching Tiffany begin this chapter is, for a lot of people, a meaningful thing to witness.
The couple's choice to skip a traditional ceremony, to just quietly register the marriage and focus on what matters, fits the understated, grounded tone they've struck throughout their relationship. No grand announcements. No engagement photoshoot. Two people who found each other on set and moved forward with intention.
What Comes Next
Neither Tiffany nor Byun Yo Han have shared plans beyond TEAMHOPE's statement. The agency confirmed no pregnancy is involved, directly addressing speculation that had circulated in Korean media. A small family ceremony is being considered. Beyond that, both are expected to continue their respective careers.
What they have built, quietly and on their own terms, is worth celebrating. Congratulations to the couple.
