i-dle

i-dle (아이들), formerly styled as (G)I-DLE, is a five-member girl group under CUBE Entertainment. The group debuted on May 2, 2018, with the mini album I Am and rebranded to i-dle on their seventh anniversary in May 2025. The current lineup consists of Soyeon (leader, main rapper), Miyeon (main vocalist), Minnie (main vocalist), Yuqi (main dancer), and Shuhua (sub-vocalist, visual).

i-dle's discography is defined by creative autonomy. Leader Jeon Soyeon writes and produces the majority of the group's music, from breakthrough hits like "LATATA" and "HANN" to chart-toppers "Queencard" and "Nxde." Their second studio album 2 (2024) and seventh EP I Sway (2024) cemented their position among K-Pop's top-tier groups.

Internationally, i-dle is signed with 88rising for global promotions. Their 2026 Syncopation world tour includes arena dates across North America, marking their largest headline run on the continent. Members Soyeon and Miyeon have also portrayed characters in League of Legends' virtual group K/DA.

Who are the current members of i-dle?
i-dle's current five-member lineup is Soyeon (leader, main rapper, producer), Miyeon (main vocalist), Minnie (main vocalist, from Thailand), Yuqi (main dancer, from China), and Shuhua (sub-vocalist, from Taiwan). Former member Soojin departed in August 2021. The group is notable for its multinational composition across South Korea, Thailand, China, and Taiwan.
Why did (G)I-DLE rebrand to i-dle in 2025?
On May 2, 2025, their seventh debut anniversary, Cube Entertainment announced the group would simplify their name from (G)I-DLE to i-dle. The rebrand dropped the bracketed (G) prefix -- originally representing "Girl" -- as part of a broader repositioning for the group's next chapter, while retaining the core phonetic identity of the name aideul (아이들).
What does the name i-dle mean?
i-dle (아이들, aideul) means "children" in Korean, a deliberate irony given the group's sharp, mature artistic identity. It can also be parsed as "I" (self-affirmation) plus the Korean plural marker deul (들), meaning "we are" or "we exist." The English word idle -- meaning inactive -- was a further counterpoint the group's output actively defies.
What are i-dle's biggest hit songs?
i-dle's most commercially impactful tracks include "LATATA" (debut hit, 2018), "Tomboy" (2022, swept music show wins), "Nxde" (2022), "Queencard" (2023), "Super Lady" (2024), and "Wife" (2024). "Tomboy" marked a hard sonic pivot toward self-assertive anthems and helped define i-dle's fourth-generation identity. Several tracks have placed on Billboard's Global charts.
What is Soyeon's role in i-dle's music?
Jeon Soyeon serves as leader, main rapper, and de facto head producer. She writes, composes, and often arranges the majority of i-dle's discography -- an unusual level of creative control for a performing idol. This authorial consistency gives the group's catalog a distinct throughline: genre-fluid, lyrically pointed, and thematically cohesive across each album era.
